Featured Guest Artist at 10 annual American Society of Marine Artists Exhibit - 2003

Artist Ivan Kelly is a guest artist at the 10th annual American Society of Marine Artists exhibit at the Coos Bay Art Museum in Coos Bay, Oregon. The show began with an artists' reception Friday, August 1st, and will continue through September 13th. This year is the 10th anniversary exhibit and will feature Maritime art works with past featured guests artists. Ivan was the 2002 featured artist. Previous featured artists include: John Stobart from Boston, Massachusetts; David Thimgan, June Carey, Louis Gadal from California; William Ryan, Thomas Wells, Grant Saylor from Washington; and Norma Jay and Ivan Kelly from Oregon. All paintings are for sale. "The American Society of Marine Artists was founded in 1978 as a non-profit, tax exempt organization, whose objective is to recognize and promote marine art and history, and to encourage cooperation among artists, historians, marine enthusiasts and others engaged in activities related to marine art and maritime history." The organization headquarters is on the East Coast. All art works will be for sale. A dinner featuring awards and a presentation by the guest artist program followed at The Red Lion. The exhibit will be on display through September 13th, 2003. The following are Ivan’s Marine invitational shows and painting awards: 2003 – A.S.M.A. – Guest artist 2002 - American Society of Marine Artists featured artist 2001 - American Society of Marine Artists – “Best of Show” Award, oil painting of "January Sky” 2001 - Mystic International 22nd annual exhibit – Maritime Gallery at Mystic Seaport, CT with "Spring Surf", a Oregon Coast 12x24 oil painting 2000 - American Society of Marine Artists – “Artist Signature Membership” Awarded 2000 - Oil Painters of America, National @ Carmel, CA – “Award of Excellence” with his painting “Abandoned”, a Charleston boatyard picture. 1999 – 6th Annual American Society of Marine Artists – “Coos Board of Art Museum Directors’ Award.” with oil painting of “Oregon Beaches Forever”. 1998 - Oil Painters of America 7th National annual exhibit in Washington, D.C. with his painting “Last Ashore”, a Newport waterfront scene.
